Trip on Ca’ Canny starting 2012-05-15
Gordon Joined Mike Quick to sail ‘Ca’Canny ’, a Najad 400 from Hamble Point (the boat we have booked for the J-class race viewing in July) as a corporate entertainment event for Mike’s son-in-law and colleagues. There were two day sails, with the crew staying in a hotel in Burlesden.
On Saturday they sailed to Cowes for lunch; the forecast was for SW 5-7, and the sea was quite lively, although Gordon thinks the wind indication of 38-45K was over-reading. A leisurely lunch was followed by an excellent sail back to the Hamble for dinner, after extracting themselves from being pinned on to the leeward berth by what was now a southerly wind.
On Sunday the wind was SE 18–20K. Being joined by two more crew who hadn’t been to Cowes, it was off to Cowes again at 10.00 am on a flat sea. Ca’Canny sailed beautifully. Luxury came in the form of electric winches. After another lunch and some shopping, the trip back to Hamble again provided excellent sailing.
