Future Trips
1.1Round the Island and Helford – l’Aber Wrac’h races. Three charters, all fully booked, have been arranged. These are:
1) A practice weekend for the Round the Island race on June 13-15.
2) The race on June 21 (charter from Thursday evening the 19th – Sunday 22nd).
3) A cruise from Hamble to Falmouth, June 22-26, the l’Aber Wrac’h race on June 27/28, and a cruise back to Hamble by July 3rd. All those participating in one or more of these charters have received details of the amounts and dates of the payments due. It is important that all payments are made on time as we have already paid a security deposit of £2500 to cover four charters including the two races. This will not be returned to our bank account until the middle of July.
1.2One of the conditions for getting a charter for the Round the Island race for less than £2000 was that we booked two weekend charters on the same boat before June 19th. One of these will be the race practice weekend on June 13/15.
The second is now fully booked and paid, and will be a long weekend (with the opportunity for a cross-Channel trip) next weekend Thursday evening May 15 – Monday 19th skippered by Jeff Birkin. Crew information has been sent to all going.
1.3Alan Howells will skipper a weekend from Plymouth on June 6 – 8. This is fully booked and paid, and the crew contact information will be available at the meeting on May 12th.
1.4Alan has also proposed a week’s cross-Channel cruise from Plymouth in August, around the late Bank Holiday week, probably Friday August 22 – Friday 29th. We have five names for this at present, so there is room for one or two more. Any interest?
1.5After last year’s successful sail and power training weekends Alan and Jeff are offering to skipper another one of each in the autumn. We have more than enough names of people interested at present, although this may change when we have definite dates.
News and notices
2.1The Devon Boat Jumble will be held on Saturday May 24th at 10.00 am at Newton Abbot Racecourse. Entry £3, parking free.
