Future Trips

1.1Gordon Ogden will skipper a weekend from Liberty in Plymouth on the weekend of May 20 – 22. This is fully booked and paid, and crew information has been sent to all going.

1.3 Jerzy Wieczorek is planning a Yachtmaster training trip in September, which will be on a Jeanneau 37 from Hamble Yacht Charter at Mercury Yacht Harbour on the weekend of September 9 – 11. As a Solent high season charter this will cost £190 per person. Jeff Birkin and Dave Lloyd will oversee this. This is potentially fully booked, with some on a reserve list. Final payment is not needed until August 10th, but those who have provisionally booked will be asked to confirm their places with a first payment of £50 during May.

1.4 As it has proved impossible to obtain a charter for the Helford – lAberWrac’h race on June 25th, we are hoping that Jeff Birkin and Ian Collins will be able to use Ian’s new boat ‘Freemalkin’. Ian has been told it should be ready for use in early May.

1.5 Ian Collins has suggested that we could have a cruise from Neyland to Ireland in September. Several members have expressed interest, and there are places for one or two more. Will anyone who would be interested in this please let us know.

2. News

2.1 First Aid course

The first aid certificates for those who took the course on board Sabrina three years ago will expire on May 12th 2022.We have arranged for Brian and Stephen Howell (who took the course for us then) to give us this course on board Sabrina on next Sunday May 8th at 9.15 am until about 4 pm. The bar on board Sabrina will not be open, so you will have to bring drinks for 'tea breaks' and something for lunch (unless you want to try to find somewhere to get a meal in the neighbourhood).

There is still space for more people to come and even if your first aid certificate is not quite due for renewal (they are valid for 3 years) it could be worth coming as Brian will charge BSA just £30 per person, and it would cost £90 at Bristol's Maritime Academy or over £100 at places in Haslar or Plymouth. I will pay Brian the total due on the day, and then ask each of you who has come for your £30 to reimburse BSA.
