Future Trips
Malcolm Price will skipper a weekend from Plymouth on September 9 – 11. This is fully booked and an Elan 384 has been booked from Liberty at Plymouth. This is fully paid, and information has been sent to all crew.
Jeff Birkin will skipper a cruise to the Scilly Isles on September 10 – 17. Cornish Cruising’s charter period is from 1600 on Saturday September 10 until 1000 on Saturday 17. This is fully booked and paid, and information sent to all crew.
Gordon Ogden will skipper a midweek trip from Plymouth in September, from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd. This is now fully booked, with just one payment of £114 outstanding. The crew information will be available at the meeting on September 11th.
Alan Howells’ proposed cross-Channel trip from Plymouth on the GK 29 “Gundulph” had to be abandoned as we were unable to assemble a full crew. Alan will now skipper this boat locally to Plymouth for a weekend in September or October. This is the boat we have used, with Alan as skipper, for training boat- and sail-handling in the past two years. Please let us know if you are interested – we had several members who missed out on the previous training trips and said they would be interested in further ones.
Jeff Birkin would like to skipper a trip from Milford Haven in October. Pembrokeshire cruising currently have a Sun Odyssey 37 available at Neyland Marina for the weekends of October 14 – 16 and 21 – 23 for £490. This will have to be decided at the meeting on September 12.
2.Recent Trips
A summary of all trips reported at meetings is given here, or a full report, if available. Members reporting at a meeting are reminded that a full version of the report should be provided, either written or emailed. If this isn’t available, then only a short summary will be given in the newsletter. Full reports will be included in the next newsletter following receipt.
At the August meeting there were reports by Jeff Birkin, the skipper for a Solent weekend on July 15 – 17, and by Bill Thomas on the PASAB race long weekend to the Scilly Isles which he skippered on July 27 – August 2. Bill’s report is given below, but Jeff’s report isn’t available for this newsletter. Also included is a report which Becky Goddard gave at an earlier meeting of a 2-boat charter in Croatia, with Becky and Bob Buchanan skippering.

BSA payments. In the May newsletter we reported that the meeting had approved a proposal to arrange a transfer facility to allow members to pay subscriptions or charter payments by direct bank transfer instead of by cheque, providing they also emailed the Treasurer with details of the payment. This arrangement is now in place, and transfers should be to the account of Bristol Sailing Association at Barclays Bank, Bristol, account no. 40853062, sort code 20-13-34, with email confirmation to janejenkyn@blueyonder.co.uk
