Future Trips
1.1What started as a weekend from Plymouth skippered by Alan Howells on October 2-4 has become a two-boat long weekend to include the Friday. Alan’s boat will be available for boarding at QAB on the Thursday evening with handover on Friday morning. Ian Collins will collect a second boat from Plymouth Sailing School on the Thursday afternoon and bring it to QAB. All eight crew have said they can travel to Plymouth for the Thursday evening. If the weather is suitable Ian will sail with one crew to Falmouth on Friday morning while Liberty hand over the QAB boat. Alan will then follow to Falmouth, possibly with an overnight sail. Both could return to Fowey on Saturday, and back to Plymouth on Sunday, possibly with crews redistributed between the boats. The total cost for the two boats is now known to be £1277. All going have made an initial payment of £85, and as everyone is now going for all three days, the final payment now due is £75 per person.
Chris Baxendale has suggested a week’s sail next spring from Plymouth or Falmouth along the south coast. This is a long time away, but would anyone interested in this please let us know.
News and Notices
2.1At the next meeting on September 14th Jeff Birkin would like to check that the MoB recovery system he is developing, Oscar, will easily fit most types of lifejacket. Jeff would be grateful if members who have their own lifejackets could bring them to the meeting so that he can see if it fits.
3.Recent Trips
At the August meeting there were reports by Sue Fowle on a long weekend from Plymouth, skippered by Gordon Ogden, Don Hirst on a week of ‘Quartette’s east coast summer cruise, skippered by Chris Watts, and by Bob Buchanan on a ‘Lady Emma’ sail from Haslar to Poole. These reports follow.
Sue Fowle also gave an account of a week sailing in Croatia; this has already been distributed, along with Julia and Chris Wallace’s latest report of sailing ‘Aremiti’ in the Aegean, ‘Aremiti in July’.
