Future Trips

Phil Steele will skipper a midweek trip on the PYC yacht Spellbinder on Wednesday January 9th to Friday 11th. Anticipating visiting Cowes, with its range of chandlers, Phil is calling this one the “January Sales” trip. Following a cancellation there is now one place available, please let me (Jock) know if you would like to take this place.

Gordon Ogden and Chris Watts will skipper a midweek trip on both PYC yachts on Monday February 18th – Wednesday 20th. There are two places still available – will anyone who would like these please contact me.

For both the above trips no advance payment is needed. They will cost £20 per day, payable at the time of sailing.

Gordon will skipper a midweek (Monday – Wednesday) trip, on Spellbinder if available, in March – date to be decided.

1.4Jeff Birkin would like to skipper a boat in this year’s PASAB (Penzance around Scilly and back) race weekend at the end of July. The details are:

PASAB 2013Friday, 26 to 29 July

This annual race has been running since the 1978 and is now made up of three legs held over the last weekend in July.

Race briefing at 18:30 on Friday, 26 July 2013 at the Penzance Sailing Club clubhouse.

PASAB prizegiving at 20:00 on Saturday, 3 August 2013 at the Penzance Sailing Club clubhouse.

Saturday is a free day for cruising in the Scilly Isles at leisure.

In previous years we have chartered from Falmouth for this, but it is likely that no suitable boat will now be available, so a charter from Plymouth may be needed (e.g. the Sunfast 37 from Sail West). Jeff has said he would sail from Plymouth with a small delivery crew on the Wednesday or Thursday, and back on the following Tuesday, with the full crew needed from Friday to Monday. Three or four members have expressed interest; anyone else interested please let us know.

2.News and notices

2.1January meeting

The next meeting on January 14th will be our annual social evening, with a buffet, a free raffle and, this year, a quiz. Our Commodore has been using her enforced time at home convalescing to compile the quiz. Alan Howells will be organising (and providing some of) the buffet and would welcome any offers to provide food for it – BSA will of course refund the cost. Please contact Alan on 0117 944 2618 if you can help.

2.2Membership renewal

Membership renewal forms were sent on October 10th to all members whose membership expired on October 31st. A few are still outstanding; if you have not yet renewed and wish to remain a member, please follow the details on the form to send to the Treasurer or pay by bank transfer. It will be taken that anyone who has not renewed by the January meeting does not wish to remain a member.

2.3BSA Rules

The rules with the revised Section 5 have been reprinted and will be distributed to members at the next meeting or sent to those not at the meeting..

3.Recent Trips
