Future Trips
1.1Gordon Ogden will skipper a trip in February or March, date to be given at the meeting on January 8th. It is unlikely that PYC will have a ‘Spellbinder’ replacement by then so this may be from Plymouth
1.2Alan Howells and Ian Collins are proposing a 3-week cruise in south Brittany in late May or June next year. This would probably involve a crew change during the cruise (this has been successfully done in the past, using the Plymouth – Roscoff ferry). Will anyone interested in this please let Alan or Ian know.
2.News and Notices
2.1Membership renewal
All memberships expired on October 31st and a renewal form was sent to all members. A few renewals are still outstanding. If you haven’t yet renewed please bring the form with your subscription to the meeting on January 8th. Alternatively, either send it with a cheque payable to Bristol Sailing Association to the Treasurer, Mrs R A Goddard, 29 The Old Silk Mill, Coombe Lane, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5XA, or pay by bank transfer to the account of Bristol Sailing Association at Barclays Bank, account number 40853062, sort code 20-13-34, using reference BSAsub and your surname. If you pay by bank transfer please email the Treasurer beckygeesilkmill@gmail.com to advise her and give any change of contact details.
IF YOU HAVE DECIDED NOT TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP IT WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL IF YOU WOULD EMAIL jockplayle3@waitrose.com TO TELL US. If you don’t renew by January 8th your membership will cease.
2.2January social evening
As usual our meeting on January 8th will be our social evening with a free buffet and raffle. Alan Howells has again offered to organise the buffet and asks that any member who can help him by supplying some food items contact him as soon as possible to arrange this – tel. 0117 944 2618, email alanhowellsandco@gmail.com . All contributions will be reimbursed.
3.Recent Trips
Trip reports – Chris Wallace has asked for all members who provide trip reports to include the type and name of the boat, and the names of all crew, so that the reports can be completely listed and referenced on the website.
At the December meeting there was a report from John Hartland on the midweek sail from Plymouth on December 4th, skippered by Chris Watts.

Following the trip report Kath took charge for her Commodore’s Festive Quiz. Members split into four teams to answer a variety of picture and written questions with a Christmas flavour – including identifying the actors playing Santa Claus in films over several decades, which caused such consternation that Kath promised not to repeat a similar round in future. Despite this it was enjoyed by all, although the team which came second pointed out that they would have won if the results had been scaled according to the number of players in each team!
Once again we must thank our Commodore for compiling and running what has become a traditional event at our December meeting.
