Future Trips

1.1Gordon Ogden is skippering a midweek sail on the PYC yacht ‘RelaX’ on February 25 – 27. This fully booked, and no advance payment is needed.

1.2Alan Howells and Ian Collins will skipper two boats chartered from Richard Brown (ex- Plymouth Sailing School) for 10 days Friday April 26th – Sunday May 5th, from Plymouth to the Channel Islands and Brittany. We don’t yet know the new year’s prices, other than having been told they will be going up. With a comfortable five aboard probably best to assume £50 each per day charter cost. The boats may be the former PSS Bavarias ‘Phoebe’ and ‘Chloe’, but Richard has guaranteed there will be two yachts of at least 34’.

Following a cancellation there is now one place available. Will anyone interested please contact Alan (alanhowellsandco@gmail.com). Both Alan and Ian will be available to answer questions at BSA meetings.

It may be some time before we know the full charter cost, but in the meantime will all those who have booked please pay a first payment of £100 to confirm their place – payment details are in the cover latter of this newsletter. If you pay by bank transfer use reference Apr 26 P.

1.3Chris Watts is skippering a week’s charter from Hamble Point on Friday May 17th – 24th. This is fully booked, and a first payment of £100 is due now (payment details in the cover letter). The balance payment of £237 will be due by May 3rd.

2.1Membership renewal.

Membership renewal for 2018/19 is now overdue – a few members have still to renew. A renewal form was sent to all members in November. If you haven’t yet renewed please bring this to the meeting on January 14th. Payment by bank transfer is preferred, to the account of Bristol Sailing Association at Barclays Bank, account number 40853062, sort code 20-13-34, using reference BSAsub and your surname, and please email the Treasurer beckygeesilkmill@gmail.com to advise her and give any change of contact details. . If you do pay by cheque, send it payable to Bristol Sailing Association to the Treasurer, Mrs R A Goddard, 29 The Old Silk Mill, Coombe Lane, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5XA, or bring it to the meeting.

If you have decided not to rejoin BSA it would be very helpful if you would inform the secretary (either email or phone, details on the cover letter of this newsletter). Your membership will lapse if you have not rejoined by January 14th.

2.2January meeting Social Evening. As usual, our January meeting on the 14th will be a social evening with a buffet and raffle, all free. Alan Howells has again offered to organise the buffet and asks for anyone who can help with providing food (of the ‘finger buffet’ variety) who has not already told Alan to contact him as soon as possible. Recent trips

Trip reports A reminder that Chris Wallace has asked for all members who provide trip reports to include the type and name of the boat, and the names of all crew, so that the reports can be completely listed and referenced on the website. Photographs sent to webmaster@bristolsailing.org.uk would also be very welcome.

At the December meeting we had reports from Gordon Ogden, on his PYC ‘RelaX’ Familiarisation sail, followed by a midweek sail on ‘RelaX’ skippered by Chris Watts.Bob Buchanan reported on a weekend from Lymington, and John Hartland gave a report on a midweek sail on PYC’s ‘Quartette’ skippered by Gordon.
