On June 21st we had our first meeting on board Sabrina since October last year, and this was successful with about 25 members present. The Covid measures on board worked well with little inconvenience to our meeting.
At this meeting we welcomed new member Hilary Carey, who will be sailing on one of Jeff Birkin’s July trips.
Future Trips
1.1Jeff Birkin’s three ‘back to sailing’ weekends will all be on the Bavaria 36 ‘Anodyne’ from Liberty Yachts at Queen Anne’s Battery Marina Plymouth on the weekends of July 9/11, 16/18 and 23/25. There is one place still available for the first weekend of July 9-11, which is intended for experienced crew and skippers, and one place on the third weekend of July 23-25, which is for basic boat handling. Irrespective of the number of crew on each boat the cost is £165 per person, slightly higher than usual as it includes a mandatory surcharge of £50 per boat for deep cleaning, sanitising and replacement of all cutlery and crockery between charters. Crew information and contact details have been sent to all who have booked for each trip.
1.2Jerzy Wieczorek’s week’s cruise from Plymouth on May 17th was curtailed due to storms, and Plymouth Yacht Charters kindly offered us three free days which have been arranged for Friday 1st October – Monday 4th. Jerzy and all the May crew will take this up, joined by Phil Steele as Jeff Woolmer is now away working in Turkey.
1.3Phil Steele will skipper a trip in November, perhaps on the weekend of the 5th so that a ‘fireworks’ trip could replace his ‘Christmas Lights’ trips of previous years. Will anyone who would like to go on this please let me know.

Trip reports A reminder that Chris Wallace has asked for all members who provide trip reports to include the type and name of the boat, and the names of all crew, so that the reports can be completely listed and referenced on the website. Photographs sent to webmaster@bristolsailing.org.uk would also be very welcome.
At the June meeting we had reports from Ian Collins on a charter from Neyland in Pembroke, and from all the crew, read by Don Hirst, of the shortened Plymouth trip skippered by Jerzy. These reports follow. We also had a brief report from Bob Buchanan of a charter from Lymington with Becky and the former ‘Lady Emma’ crew, also restricted by the weather.
