Future Trips

1.1Phil Steele will skipper his traditional Christmas Light(s) charter, this year from Plymouth, on the weekend of December 15 – 17. The Bavaria 36 from Plymouth Sailing School has been booked for this. It is fully booked and paid.

1.2Alan Howells and Ian Collins are proposing a 3-week cruise in south Brittany in late May or June next year. This would probably involve crew changes during the cruise (this has been successfully done in the past, using the Plymouth – Roscoff ferry). Will anyone interested in this please let Alan or Ian know.

2.News and Notices

2.1Membership renewal

All memberships expired on October 31st and a renewal form was sent to all members. About 14 membership renewals are still outstanding. If you haven’t yet renewed please bring the form with your subscription to the meeting on December 11th. Alternatively, either send it with a cheque payable to Bristol Sailing Association to the Treasurer, Mrs R A Goddard, 29 The Old Silk Mill, Coombe Lane, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5XA, or pay by bank transfer to the account of Bristol Sailing Association at Barclays Bank, account number 40853062, sort code 20-13-34, using reference BSAsub and your surname. If you pay by bank transfer please email the Treasurer beckygeesilkmill@gmail.com to advise her and give any change of contact details.

IF YOU HAVE DECIDED NOT TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP IT WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL IF YOU WOULD EMAIL jockplayle3@waitrose.com TO TELL US.

2.2Christmas Dinner – last call for booking

Members were advised on October 12th that there were problems with the booking which Gordon Ogden had made at Bordeaux Quay restaurant. We have to thank Gordon for rapidly arranging the alternative whose details and menu were emailed to all members the same day. A booking for Tuesday December 19th has been made at the Botanist, Berkeley Square, Bristol. Will anyone who has not yet booked please contact Gordon (tel. 01275 462473, email Gordon.ogden18@gmail.com ) and confirm with payment. Including service charge, the cost will be £25.25 for two courses and £29.65 for three.

2.3January social evening

As usual our meeting on January 8th will be our social evening with a free buffet and raffle. Alan Howells has again offered to organise the buffet and asks that any member who can help him by supplying some food items contact him this month to arrange this – tel. 0117 944 2618, email alanhowellsandco@gmail.com . Note that Alan will be away sailing in Tenerife until December 10th.

3.Recent Trips

Trip reports – Chris Wallace has asked for all members who provide trip reports to include the type and name of the boat, and the names of all crew, so that the reports can be completely listed and referenced on the website.

At the November meeting there were reports from Sue Fowle on Gordon’s boat-handling trip at Plymouth, Ian Collins on a weekend from Plymouth to Dartmouth, both in October, and from Bob Buchanan on a Solent trip on the weekend before the meeting.
