News and Notices
2.1BSA Treasurer After 19 years of sterling service Jane Jenkyn retired as Treasurer at the AGM in October, and Becky Goddard was elected as our new Treasurer. In recognition of Jane’s contribution to the running of the club she was unanimously given honorary life membership at the meeting. Jane has since sent the following message:
“I was surprised and delighted to receive the Honorary Membership of the club for life.
I have enjoyed being Treasurer and am very pleased that Becky has volunteered to take on the book-keeping.
Through membership of the club I have had opportunities to sail on many occasions to destinations which would not have been possible otherwise.
I do appreciate the responsibility that skippers are prepared to undertake, with all the different personalities of a crew, some of whom may be very inexperienced.
Keeping the accounts was a doddle compared to working out tide timetables and navigational problems.
Also Jock, I would like to thank you for all the research in finding charter yachts and the meticulous work in preparing joining instructions before a voyage.
Lots of happy memories of good times afloat, good meals, rough seas – wondering why I liked sailing, reach land, have a shower, drinks, nibbles, laughter, all great!!”
2.2BSA Christmas Dinner. Gordon Ogden is very kindly again arranging this year’s event which will be at the Avon Gorge Hotel, where we have enjoyed it for the last two years, on Tuesday December 16th. The cost is £20 per head, the same as last year. The menu was emailed to members last month and Gordon asks that you let him have your choices by early November – by the date of our meeting on November 10th at the latest.
3.Recent Trips
