Trip on a yacht starting 2008-10-15 in BSANov08

“Buoys Club” in Turkey in October – note by Bernard Smyth

Dave Price and Bernard Smyth were two BSA members on the annual “Buoys Club” trip in October. It was Turkey again and three Sunsail 43s to accommodate the 15 members.

We went from TurgutreisMap to Kormen, Yedi Adalar, Akbuk Limani, Sehir Ad, Degirmen Buku, Tuzla Koyu, Cokertme, Kara Ada and back to Turgutreis.

We had some great afternoon sailing with max wind a F7, and we did up to 195 nM non-tidal.

A word of warning about Kormen: there is only one restaurant there and we felt we were ripped off. It has no price list. The third on-shore meal was at Kaptain Ibrahim’s and we paid a third of the price at Kormen for better food. Turkey is no longer a cheap holiday though.

One day we awoke to find a seal asleep in one of the dinghies alongside one yacht. it was joined in the water by one of our members in snorkel kit. Later we heard that the seal had bitten someone recently!
