REMEMBER THAT THE APRIL MEETING WILL BE ON MONDAY 6TH APRIL, NOT THE 13TH, as the second Monday of the month is Easter Monday.
At the meeting on March 9th we welcomed Pat and Mike Berry who have rejoined the Association. Another new member is Claire Milner, who will be sailing on the charter from Plymouth on April 3rd. We extend a warm welcome to Pat, Mike and Claire.
Future Trips
1.1 Alan Howells will skipper a weekend from Plymouth on April 3 – 5. The plan is to sail overnight on Friday to Falmouth, then return in two stages on Sat/Sun, with Saturday night in Fowey. THERE IS NOW ONE PLACE STILL AVAILABLE FOR THIS TRIP, which will cost £85. Will anyone who would like to take this place please contact me (Jock) or Alan (0117 944 2618). If anyone going has not yet paid the full cost of £85 will they please send it to the Treasurer, Mrs J R Jenkyn, Edgecliff, 12 Marine Parade, Clevedon, Bristol, BS21 7QS, as soon as possible.
1.2Malcolm Price will skipper a long weekend cross-Channel trip from the Solent on the early May Bank Holiday weekend of Friday 1st – Monday 4th May. This is now fully booked, and will cost £132 per person. A deposit of £50 was asked for earlier this month. The balance of £82 will be due by April 1st. If anyone going has not yet paid the deposit, they should now send the full £132 to the Treasurer (address in 1.1 above).
1.3The long weekend cross-Channel catamaran trip proposed by Alan Howells cannot now take place as the Athena 38 cat “G&T” is no longer based in the UK, and no other catamarans are available for charter. As an alternative Alan has proposed a long weekend trip from Plymouth to perhaps Tréguier. Will anyone interested in this please let us know, either by phone or email, or at the next meeting.
1.4PASAB (Penzance – Scilly races). We now have two full crews for this event. As well as the race weekend from Friday July 24th – Monday 27th, we will probably need two crews of about three people to deliver boats from Falmouth to Penzance on Thursday 23rd, and return on Tuesday 28th. All those going should let us know what periods they will be available.
1.5Phil Steele’s proposal for a week’s Med charter is confirmed as a charter from Sicily on September 5th – 12th. Peter Wakeling has arranged flights and, with Phil, booked a Beneteau Oceanis 423. The deposit has been paid, and those going should now send a deposit of £75 to the Treasurer (address in 1.1 above). The balance of £264 will be due by June 21st. Payment for the flights should be to Peter, as he has advised all going.
2.Recent Trips
A summary of all trips reported at meetings is given here, or a full report, if available. Members reporting at a meeting are reminded that a full version of the report should be provided, either written or emailed. If this isn’t available, then only a short summary will be given in the newsletter. Full reports will be included in the next newsletter following receipt.
At the March meeting Sue Fowle gave the following report on the charter from the Hamble on the weekend of 27th February – 1st March.
