Future Trips
Phil Steele will attempt another ‘Xmas Lights’ trip in December on the weekend of the 15/16th. This will be from Plymouth on the GK 29, aiming for Fowey if the weather allows. It is fully booked, and the cost is £100 per person. The Balance payment of £50 is due now.
Phil will skipper another midweek trip on the PYC yacht Spellbinder on Wednesday January 9th to Friday 11th. Anticipating visiting Cowes, with its range of chandlers, Phil is calling this one the “January Sales” trip. Following a cancellation there is now one place available, please let me (Jock) know if you would like to take this place.
Gordon Ogden gave advance notice that he hopes to skipper a midweek trip on a PYC yacht during February. He will confirm a date at the December meeting. A date of Monday February 18th – Wednesday 20th was suggested, and it is possible (if the boats are available) that both PYC yachts are used with Chris Watts skippering also.
2.News and notices
2.1Membership renewal
Membership renewal forms were sent on October 10th to all members whose membership expired on October 31st. If you have not yet renewed, please bring this with your subscription to the meeting on December 10th, or follow the details on the form to send to the Treasurer or pay by bank transfer. It will be taken that anyone who has not renewed by the end of December does not wish to remain a member.
2.2Xmas Dinner
Following last year's very successful Xmas meal at the Avon Gorge Hotel in Bristol we have decided to repeat it this year. A booking has been made for the evening of Tuesday December 18th. The cost will be £20 per person, with a similar menu to last year. Gordon Ogden has sent the menu to all who have booked and needs your choices by the end of this month. It is suggested that we all meet at the hotel at 7.00 pm for 7.30.
2.3BSA Rules
Following some misunderstandings this year which have led to the club losing money on some charters the committee decided to clarify the rules for booking and paying. The proposed Rule revision was sent to all members with the AGM minutes, and was put to an Extraordinary General Meeting for approval immediately before the meeting on November 12th. With one minor omission to be rectified, the proposed new Section 5 was passed unanimously. This will be incorporated in the rules which will be distributed to all members.
3.Recent Trips
At the November meeting we had reports from Ian Collins on a Yachtmaster preparation sail from Plymouth, from Sue Fowle on a weekend charter from Hamble Point, from Don Hirst on a midweek sail on Quartette skippered by Phil Steele, and from Bob Buchanan on the last sail (motor?) of the year on Lady Emma.
