1. News

1.1 December meeting – Social Evening Last year we held our Social Evening with buffet on board Sabrina in December instead of the usual January, as there was little support for a restaurant Christmas dinner. This proved to be very successful, and at the meeting on October 10th it was proposed that we do the same this year. This was strongly approved by those at the meeting, so our social evening with free buffet and raffle will be our meeting on December 12th. Kath initially said she would not do a Commodore’s Christmas Quiz this year, but after loud protests she relented so the evening will also include this.

1.2 Bristol Clean Air Traffic Zone. This will be introduced on November 28th when it will cost £9 to bring a vehicle which exceeds the pollution limit into the city centre, which includes Sabrina’s position. It looks as if this would apply mainly to fairly old diesel vehicles (so far two or three of our members with such vehicles have found they would be liable, whereas petrol cars up to 20 years old are OK ). This was discussed at the October meeting and it was decided to ask all members to check the position with regard to their own cars via the website and to let us know if they are liable. If it turns out that many members would be affected, we will have to consider options.

2. Future trips

2.1 Jerzy Wieczorek is skippering a weekend on November 25 – 27 on a Jeanneau SO 36i from Haslar Marina, Gosport. There is room for one more on board. We haven’t had the booking details yet but expect it will cost about £130 per person for six on board. Will anyone else who would like to go please contact Jerzy tel. 0117 942 4480, email .

3. Recent trips

At the October meeting Ian Collins reported on his two-part trip skippering the GSA Plymouth boat, and Bob Buchanan gave a report of a weekend charter from Plymouth.
